Murnong Mummas is an Indigenous-lead social enterprise involved in the native foods and botanicals sector.
We are proud to employ First Nations and Gender Diverse individuals from the local community, providing them with employment opportunities and fostering a connection to Community, Country, and First Nation Foods.
In 2020, we collaborated with Gung Hoe Growers to plant 400 native herb, fruit, vegetable and medicine plants in our Bushfoods plot at the Harcourt Organic Farming Co-op. This initiative not only provided meaningful work for our isolated employees but also served as a way to encourage a connection to Country and promote food production during the initial lockdowns of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Over the years, we have diligently managed our bushfoods plot, ensuring that the plants have the best opportunity to thrive and establish themselves for the future. This plot serves as a symbol of growth and resilience, much like the young people we employ to manage the land.
At Murnong Mummas we seize every opportunity to educate and inspire others about native foods and botanicals. Through our Bushfoods plot, we offer tours and workshops for local schools, holiday programs and other groups.
By sharing our knowledge and passion, we aim to promote the uniqueness and innovation of native foods and the people and country behind them.
